Palm Application UI - 2005-2006

Go to another project:

I was responsible for visual UI design and provided input on interaction design for a suite of educational assessment tools deployed on older model Palm PDAs of low resolution (160px x 160px) and limited color (8bit).

The applications are used by teachers to test student knowledge during one-on-one tests (teacher interviewing a child and recording answers on the PDA).

Parts of the Application
Modules include Arithmetic, Counting, Number Identification and Problem Setup. Some screens collect several layers of information, creating heavy demands on the interface (with multiple possible inputs). Testing early prototypes provided critical direction.

Other Design Studies
In addition to the work for core functions, a lot of effort went into finding appropriate ways of visually depicting the understanding of math problems. Beyond clarity, fun was a desirable attribute we aimed for.
